Last half term

The children explored Julia Donaldson stories; together we looked at The Gruffalo, The Gruffalo’s Child and Stick Man. All the children created amazing crafts based on these three stories. The children went on an exciting Gruffalo hunt in the garden, they made a large scaled picture of the Gruffalo out of different natural materials. Wonderful Gruffalo crowns were made and lots of Stick Man paintings were created. Towards the end of term, we celebrated Chinese New Year by tasting Chinese food for snack and decorating our home corner as a Chinese Restaurant called the ‘Duck & Rice. The children investigated dancing rice and foamy explosions during our Science experiment week, they explored different natural materials under the microscope and made coloured gloop.

Letter of the week

We will be supporting your child’s learning by having a letter of the week, please encourage your child or support them in finding something from home or outside for each different letter of the week. We have a phonics box for your child to put their item into and talk about the letter sounds during group time. This will support them in their phonetic awareness.
