The next step
We work very closely with the Primary school. We often use their assembly hall for PE sessions and other activities in the. Nicola and Siobhan regularly meet with the head of the Primary School and Early Years Foundation teachers to discuss how we can work to improve outcomes for the children. We hope and feel that the good connection with the Primary School makes the transition into the school easier when the time comes. We have had many positive comments from parents about the transition period. In the summer term, we do small group activities at the primary school and then join the reception class for their playtime. Children go and spend a couple of half days and a full day before the summer holidays in the reception classroom so when school starts in September the children are used to the surroundings and feel happy and comfortable. If children are going to be attending another Primary School, we will make contact with them to arrange transition visits.
“We just wanted to say a big thank you. He has really enjoyed his time at Pre-School and I can’t believe how quick it has gone. I know he is going to miss you and the Pre-school very much. You and your team do a fantastic job. Thank you so much.”
